Trauma & PTSD Therapy

Heal what your body is still holding

Trauma isn’t only the big, obvious events. It’s any experience that overwhelmed your ability to cope and left your system stuck in survival mode. We treat trauma, acute, chronic, and complex, at the level where it actually lives: the body and the nervous system.

Heal what your body is still holding

You might not even call it trauma. Maybe you just know you’re reactive in ways that don’t make sense, brace for closeness, or feel a flash of panic you can’t explain. Trauma keeps the body primed for a threat that’s no longer there, and willpower alone rarely talks it down.

As an EMDRIA-certified therapist with advanced training in trauma, Kinsey helps you process the experiences that stayed stuck. The goal isn’t to relive the past, it’s to finally let your nervous system know it’s over, so you can live in the present.

As Peter A. Levine wrote, “Human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma.”

This work helps with…

  • PTSD, acute, chronic, and complex (C-PTSD)
  • Childhood or developmental trauma
  • A single overwhelming event or accident
  • Sexual trauma and relational wounds
  • Hypervigilance, flashbacks, or emotional numbness
  • Trauma hiding underneath anxiety, depression, or grief

The approach

A trauma-informed, body-aware approach

Safety and stabilization first

Before any deep processing, we build the resources and regulation that make trauma work safe and tolerable.

EMDR to reprocess

We use EMDR to help your brain move stuck memories toward resolution, draining their emotional charge.

Skills that hold

ACT, CBT, and DBT-informed tools give you practical ways to stay grounded between and beyond sessions.

Paced to your nervous system

We never push faster than you can tolerate. You remain in control of the work at every step.

No. One of the strengths of EMDR is that you don’t have to give a detailed verbal account of your trauma to heal from it. We work with how the memory is stored, which means you stay in control of how much you share.

PTSD often follows a single overwhelming event, while complex trauma (C-PTSD) develops from repeated or prolonged experiences, often in childhood or relationships. Both respond well to EMDR; complex trauma typically calls for more time in the stabilization phase.

No. People process and heal trauma decades after it occurred. The nervous system retains its capacity to move toward resolution, often it’s simply been waiting for the right conditions and support.

Yes. Kinsey provides trauma and EMDR therapy both in person in Hyde Park and online across Utah and Idaho.
